Salim Moollan KC has been in private practice as a Barrister at the Chambers of Sir Hamid Moollan KC, Mauritius, and at Essex Court Chambers, London and then Brick Court Chambers, London, since 1998. He specialises in international and commercial law, and in particular investment and commercial arbitration. He regularly advises and appears as Counsel before the English Courts, the Mauritian Courts (including the Privy Council), and international arbitral tribunals in numerous jurisdictions. He also acts as arbitrator in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations. He is a past Chairman of UNCITRAL and of the UNCITRAL Arbitration Working Group, a former Vice-President of the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC and of the LCIA Court, a Visiting Professor in International Arbitration Law at King's College London, a member of the Editorial Boards of the ICSID Review, of the Revue de l’Arbitrage and of Arbitration International, and a member of the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators. He is one of the principal draftsmen of the Mauritius International Arbitration Act 2008.
EDUCATION
He holds a five-year mathematics degree from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, a political science and economics degree from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, and a double first degree in law from Downing College, Cambridge.
