A past secretary and chairman of the Mauritius Bar Association and chairman of the National Accreditation and Equivalence Council, Shaukat practises in civil and criminal law with special areas of interest in company law, commercial law, insurance & banking law. He sits on the board of important institutions as member and acts as legal adviser to commercial banks and insurance companies.
Shaukat is also a former member of the Law Reform Commission and of the Board of Technical School Management Trust Fund.
EDUCATION
Shaukat obtained his LLB degree from London Guildhall University before getting called to the Bar of England & Wales at The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1984 and to the Mauritian Bar in the same year.
He also holds a Diploma in Business Management from South West London College.
